DONNING the GOLD and BLACK The Golden Gate High School Titan Band was formed with mostly underclassman in the summer of 2004. Students from other area high schools were pooled together to to fill the new $43 million dollar Golden Gate High School Campus. Despite the difficulties involved with having to go a new school and become acquainted with new people, approximately 90 or so students quickly gelled into what would become the Golden Gate High School Titan Band, Guard, and Dance programs. The band marched their first show practically before the paint in the band room was dry. This unit quickly became the pride of GGHS. Within months they achieved an overall Superior rating at the Florida Bandmasters MPA Festival. The Wind Ensemble later would earn an overall Superior rating at the FBA Concert Festival. Even though this band was young, it set the standard for all who follow. The level of pride, effort, and camaraderie exuded by this, the inaugural edition of the GGHS Titan Band will go a long way in establishing what is sure to become one of the top High School Band programs, not only in South Florida, but throughout the entire state.
